| Love is in the air ... everywhere you look around |
08/09/2009 |
And we don't know if we are being foolish ...
TO'B will be closed tomorrow because Simon and Claire have invited the whole team to their wedding which makes it very difficult to do lovely creative things when you are all sat in the congregation in a bespoke wedding barn just outside Congleton ...
Don't know if we are being wise. But it's something that we must believe in ...
Now we are thinking; it probably wouldn't be very appropriate to take calls, plug in the mac's, conduct a few concept meetings, spend some time with clients and play the office iTunes resulting in Claire walking down the isle to the 'I am the Ressurection' remix ...
And it's there when I look in your eyes ...
Which after all; is what it's all about. Simon and Claire will be looking into each others eyes tomorrow afternoon (09.09.09) and we wish them all our love, all the luck in the world and the happiest day of all.
See you all on Thursday (but not too early) x |

| Thursday night 'shake-off' ... |
28/08/2009 |
Team TO'B had a lovely (if not quite heavy) night out at Malmaison, where they taught us to make cocktails. The results were a little strange, especially in the 'shake-off' between the girls and the boys.
The girls tried to create something that actually tasted nice, the boys just created something that would get you really drunk. We always thought the purpose of cocktails was to 'get you drunk' and therefore proclaim the boys as the winners (despite the GM of Malmaison giving the win to the girls at the time).
A great night was had; here's the winning 'recipe' if you fancy trying our cocktail yourself:
2 shots Vodka, 2 limes, Strawberries
Muddle the above
1 shot Strawberry Liqueur, 2 shots cranberry juice, Ice cubes
Shake, strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a strawberry!
ENJOY! |

17/08/2009 |
We're all going on a summer holiday. No more working for a week or two. Fun and laughter on a summer holiday. No more worries for me and you. For a week or two.
We're going where the sun shines brightly. Were going where the sea is blue. We've seen it in the movies. Now let's see if it's true.
Everybody has a summer holiday Doing things they always wanted to. So were going on a summer holiday To make our dreams come true For me and you.
Team TO'B are packing up our bucket and spades, climbing onto the team bus and heading to sunnier shores for the summer. If only Manchester had a beach hey !?!?!?
Send us your stories of the summer and as soon as we have thought about what it might be - we will send you a token of our appreciation. It will be worht it, we promise.
Enjoy the sunsheeeeeine and where ever your travels take you to...

| Strange consequences ... |
13/07/2009 |
As the sun was setting over the hip ‘n' happening Northern Quarter on a balmy Mancunian evening; I raised a glass of Pimms and proposed a toast to...
... fun, friends and fine weather. Wine, beer, champagne and anything to stop Keith doing another speech about...
...our wonderful and expensive MP's whose antics have done so much to boost media income
...and let's face it, we need some, but then again we need less bankers, politicians and the like
...focusing on such words as above, I would love to be witty; however the problem is that the pens do not work
...but I do, Mika cried, take me in your hands and feel my sleek lines and my beautiful curves. With those words he grabbed Mika and with one swift moment it worked to his satisfaction
...unlike the Ping Zing 40 super shaft, sidewinder driver which Keith found was exciting to hold in the palm of his hand, but sadly for him was unappreciated by his uncle
...a big burly man of dubious lineage. He was known to work in the field of advertising which was held in great suspicion by all and sundry. However; he was known to be a master in the art of compiling a jingle
..."R Whites, R Whites, I can't give it up its just one of those nights, R Whites lemonade, I'm a secret lemonade drinker". Possibly when sung in the right tone, one of the best TV ads of all time
...except of course for that one with the Juggling Rhino and the 3 breasted lady
...but then this had been very educational evening and the entrance of the woman with the extra body part would have not been entirely unexpected.
THE END. |

| The fans get too much for our Lee... |
01/07/2009 |
Phew what a scorcher !!
We love our office. It has a rustic 1980's charm from its exterior; and the interior - well; we can't complain because we designed and built it.
As a rather fantastic ex-Manchester Mill building we have history, heritage, charm and well; an amazing ability to retain heat.
The kind of location that Guy Ritchie chose to shoot his new Sherlock Holmes movie from doesn't come equipped with an inbuilt air conditioning system ... and we have wondered if there is some form of European working objective that means it's not right for Lee to pass out half way through a big idea?
So, the deed has been done. Lee finally has his fan (get it) ... oh; and he's single at the moment too ladies. So feel to call Lee at the office on 0161 236 0013 and we will give you his mobile number*
*He's not going to be happy about this one but really - CALL HIM ... he he he he |

| We have been playing consequences with some of our Friends ... |
25/06/2009 |
As the sun was setting over the hip ‘n' happening Northern Quarter on a balmy Mancunian evening; I raised a glass of Pimms and proposed a toast to...
... Mushtaq, the Croatian architect who noticed a building and said
... Keith looked great in that leopard skin outfit. The gathered friends however, begged to differ. But what does he do?
... he ran and he ran and he ran. Until the sun came up
... on a broad, open, empty highway, where not a single car could be seen for more miles than the eye could see. And so we put our foot down heading for
... the Champs-Elysees where they had heard that an English man had been tied to a lamppost naked with cling film
... I decided to develop a tower in Manchester called Dick Scratcher House
... home of Dick Turpin, famous highwayman of North London.
THE END. |
|
|
-
| Further consequences ... !?!? |
25/06/2009 |
As the sun was setting over the hip ‘n' happening Northern Quarter on a balmy Mancunian evening; I raised a glass of Pimms and proposed a toast to...
... Frank Sidebottom, the bard of Burnley who cunningly had hidden a bottle down one trouser leg
...in truth toasting the loss of his virginity in this bizarre fashion had scared him
... but Keith said it looked really good and his Mum had knitted it
... but he hated his Mum, so he stripped it off and ran naked up Newton Street with a lit sparkler up his bottom !! Singing ...
... rude football chants suggesting Mrs Beckham has a liking for a particular style of sexual intercourse - which is of course ...
... a practice popular in ancient Greece, unlike the Romans who
... love a good fight and love their food, like Gladiators with big strong
... hands. He massaged her ego, and they laughed until they cried until at some point Great Orinoco arrived with a posse of wombles
... Wimbledon common is very nice this year but try to avoid the man called
... Dracula... it always ends in a nasty bite !!

| The Queen meets Sarah ... |
09/06/2009 |
It's not every day that royalty are granted an audience with TO'B, but today we have finally accepted the Palaces request and allowed Lizzie to meet with TO'B's CSD, Sarah.
They are in deepest London as we type ... munching on cucumber sandwiches, discussing the state of the nation and generally putting the world to rights between them.
This is the culmination of quite a lot of activity for Sarah over the past couple of months as she has been busily working on re-branding projects, photographic and film shoots, literature publications and today's launch with her majesty.
For the purposes of clarity; Sarah is meeting 'her highness', not the band now fronted by Paul Rogers ... ahem* |

We mean this one ...................... not this one! |

Sarah Kilgour joins TO'B as our Client Services Director from May 1st 2009.

Special thanks go to Patrick and Lee who have worked lovingly and tirelessly to pull the new version together for 'your delight'.
Have a look around and feel free to tell us what you think ... we would (especially) love to hear from you if you like what you have seen ...

| SPS go large @ PSI Dussledorf |
15/01/2009 |
A new year and a new challenge for '09.
The TO'B team had a lovely 200sq m stand to build at PSI Düsseldorf during the first week back after the Christmas break. We packed our bags (and our coats for the -12 temperatures) ... and created a fantastic presence for our client at IPC.
Designed and produced in-house; prepared and constructed with our friends at Image and DD Exhibitions - the stand will now move on to UK trade shows through the rest of January and February.
In conjunction with this fantastic exhibition TO'B have also designed, produced, photographed and printed the 2009 catalogue for SPS.
We will be back with some more news about the trade shows and catalogue once our lovely client provides feedback on the SPS brand, stand design and business opportunities created when she returns from her 'sure to be successful' trade shows ... |

20/11/2008 |
We are delighted to announce our work with Helping Uganda Schools (HUGS) to make a difference to the education of children in Uganda.
The HUGS project started in 1995 and since then has built one school in Uganda and assists another. Their third school, The Good Shepherd School for Special Needs Children, was started at the end of 2008. This is the first special needs school in the West of Uganda.
HUGS is already working on the next goal of building a secondary school in Mubende, where 90% of primary school leavers have no secondary school to go to.
Peter W Mount CBE, Chairman of the Trustees, said: "we are committed to quality education for our children. Good education is the only long term solution to poverty and so many of the world's problems. So having Manchester's finest creative consultancy, Taylor O'Brien, developing a top quality house style is wonderful present." |

"Taylor O'Brien embrace Pureprint's Corporate Responsibility stance and demonstrate a clear vision towards working with suppliers that work hard to reduce their environmental footprint. We are positive that we can offer the best in class when it comes to environmentally credible printing." |

| Au final, c'est une belle victoire pour le rugby! |
16/10/2007 |
Another little ditty from our speak the lingo section which translates to "at the end of the day, rugby is the winner!"
In our previous blog we intimated that despite England's lack of success on the pitch we were delighted with our success off it ...
Perhaps now we need to redress this small blunder and congratulate not only England for their "on-field" success but also one of our clients for his recent fame.
There were 75,000 people at the semi final v France and the press association has chosen Martin and his beret as the image to define the moment ...
Good luck to England on Saturday !! |

... which incidentally is French for; "go on referee! a trip to the sin-bin should calm him down!".
A phrase we never thought we would need to know, but it handily appeared in the speak the lingo section of our unofficial guide to the Rugby World Cup.
It hasn't been a great tournament for England so far on the pitch - but on the bright side we have produced a really nice suit of invitations, confirmations, guide books books, cool bags, rugby balls and champagne that have been excellently received. |

| Business update |
03/07/2007 |
Whilst the office move is going fantastically well ... we have also been working very hard to deliver for our clients.
June proved to be a very good month for new business with 2 new clients joining the Taylor O'Brien family. Both are finalising the terms of their projects but we are pleased to say that they both wish to create a very exciting brand experience. There will hopefully be more to follow in the coming weeks.
We have also been appointed for an 'opinion leadership forum' in November that will have some very interesting presenters and delegates ... along with a brand consultancy project which takes place over the next few months.

Its been a successful few weeks since our last blog in the aftermath of the Manchester city fires. Unfortuntaley our building is now being demolished, and whilst the offices at the front have remained it would be some time before we could return and get back to business as usual.
We can now confirm our new address details to be:
Taylor O'Brien 4th Floor Studio 47 47 Newton Street Manchester M1 1EA
Our telephone number remains the same - 0161 236 0013.
The fit out begins on Wednesday and with a super fast team of joiners, electricians, buidlers, network guys and kitchen fitters we will be fully moved into the new office within 3 weeks.
The new office presents a fantastic opportunity for Taylor O'Brien and its clients so we are pleased that we have been able to move so quickly and secure a fantastic location in the heart of Manchester.
Location hasn't held us back - and the TO'B team have been working even harder to deliver to our clients. Not only have a great number of projects made their way out into the world but we have even found time to pick up some new clients.
The nature of our consultancy project and the level of confidentiality means that we can't say too much at the moment, but we are delighted to bring our automotive client into the Taylor O'Brien family ...
Hopefully there will be more news to follow in the next few months.
Thanks to everyone for their support over the last few weeks. Hopefully we will be posting some images of our new office and recent projects for you soon.

| Phoenix from the flames |
30/04/2007 |
We arrived at the office this morning to a warm surprise ...
As you may have seen on BBC and Sky news there were some major fires in Manchester city centre this morning - unfortunately it was the Taylor O'Brien office that has appeared a little 'toasted' on your screens.
It appears that our building caught fire at around 6am this morning and by the time we arrived it was firmly ablaze. The fire also spread to some of the opposing buildings on Dale Street due to the seasonal winds.
We are all a little shocked but absolutely fine and well ... most importantly we are open for business as usual.
It will be an interesting couple of days (maybe weeks), but we are still here, we are open, and we would love to here from you.

| Global branding goes live |
16/04/2007 |
Developing the concept of corporate brand guidelines, Taylor O'Brien have created a guide to bringing the brand to life for 3i plc.
Providing guidance around the questions of how does your logo display as global signage, what should set and staging look like, what would make a suitable conference venue or dinner experience , how do you generate interest around live events, utilise corporate imagery to its full effect ... and how is the brand applied to the office environment around the world.
These are just some of the subjects covered in the 88 page brand book that truly brings the 3i brand to life.
Available as a printed document and on-line guide Taylor O'Brien have provided the consultancy, research, design, photography, artwork, print and website for this fantastic project. |

Our venue ... the original home of the Olympic Games in 1876 provided a classic backdrop for our audience of 130 businesses from the services sector.
Taylor O'Brien provided the creative inspiration behind everything from the invitation strategy to the on-site branding for the day. Set, stage, sound, AV and lighting - with a fantastically illuminated front of house. |
